The Department of Natural Resources is hiring multiple Air Management Programmers in the IS Systems Development- Senior classification within our Environmental Management Division.  The Programmers will be stationed in Madison.

The Wisconsin DNR is located at 101 S. Webster Street in the heart of downtown Madison, near the state capitol, the Madison Metro bus route and the Capital City bike path. In addition, there are tons of nearby restaurants and shopping venues.  In partnership with individuals and organizations, the DNR staff manage fish, wildlife, forests, parks, air, and water resources while promoting a healthy, sustainable environment and a full range of outdoor activities.

Position Summary:   This position is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, enhancement, and support of the Air Program and Environmental Management Division databases and information systems, such as the Wisconsin Air Resources Program (WARP) and the Wisconsin Aerometric Retrieval Data System (WISARDS), in accordance with Air Management Team and Environmental Management Division priorities.  Working with the Air Program IT Project Manager: analyze these and other information systems in light of performance, costs, and user needs; provide consultation to the Air Program and AWaRe Division regarding IT business needs and solutions related to Air Management Program and AWaRe Division data systems; and prepare, or assist in the preparation of, specialized reports of data from Air Program and Environmental Management Division information systems.

Special Notes:   Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check.  DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. 

Qualifications:   Required qualifications for this position include:
1. Relational database management and querying experience
2. Object oriented application development experience
3. Project design or Software Design Lifecycle experience

In addition to the required qualifications, preferred qualifications include:
1. IT Systems architecture and design experience
2. Database analysis, troubleshooting, and performance
3. Translating technical information to nontechnical audiences
4. Experience building web applications
5. Testing and troubleshooting web or software applications
