The starting pay for these positions is $15.56 per hour, which includes an add-on of $0.80 an hour for employees in this position with a current and up to date CNA license. Candidates who are new to state service are eligible for a sign-on bonus of $2000 and must stay with CWC for a minimum of one year to retain the bonus. Bonus will be split, $1000 upon hire and $1000 after one year. This position is in pay schedule/range 06/11 and a 12 month probationary period.

The Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) is currently recruiting to fill multiple Resident Care Technician (RCT)/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) positions. CWC is a nationally recognized, long-term care organization which supports individuals with intellectual disabilities. CWC is located at 317 Knutson Drive on the North side of Madison.

A $0.45 differential will be paid for nights, and a $0.60 differential will be paid for weekends. The differentials will be combined for $1.05 when working nights on weekends.

CNA/RCT working hours include a combination of rotating, PM and Night shifts. Weekends and holidays will be required. All applicants must be willing and available to cover all shifts and work overtime when needed.

Interviews are being held every Thursday between 9:00AM and 3:00PM. Successful completion of the applicant check-in and interview may take approximately one to two hours. Walk-ins are welcome.

All candidates must bring a photo ID with signature.

Position Summary:   
  • Provide care to individuals with intellectual disabilities

  • Help new residents adjust to their living area

  • Observe and report behavioral, mental, and physical changes in residents

  • Record and summarize information in daily logs, clinical records, etc.

  • Work cooperatively with others to promote a positive living environment
  • Special Notes:   

  • Due to the nature of the position, all applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow the Department of Health Services to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

  • All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by Central Wisconsin Center or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

  • This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 55 lbs, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and balancing.  Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

  • All appointees will be required to successfully complete the RCT training program during the first 4 weeks of employment. This training period is full-time, Monday-Friday at CWC.
  • Qualifications:   

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon appointment.

  • Must have and maintain a valid Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

  • Must be willing and available to attend the required training full-time, Monday-Friday during the first 8 weeks of employment.

  • Must be willing and available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed including staying for the next shift or working additional shifts as assigned to maintain facility staffing requirements.

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret charts/diagrams and policies/procedures.

    In addition to the minimum requirements, well-qualified applicants will have:

  • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team and interact with others.

  • Conflict resolution skills.

  • Skills in multi-tasking and prioritization.
