Salary:
Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of the appointment. The starting salary is up to $113,734.40 annually, plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule/range is 11/01. A twelve month probationary period is required.
Special Qualifications:
Candidate must be certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber by the State of Wisconsin or have the ability to obtain certification prior to appointment.

Position Summary:   This position is responsible for the comprehensive care for adult populations.  The APNP demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in providing preventative and primary care in an institutional setting.   The practitioner educates patients to promote wellness, prevent health problems, maintain current health, and intervene in acute and chronic illness. This practitioner will function independently in managing the direct and indirect care of individuals, consulting medical staff (psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and nursing) and staff from other disciplines; both on other WRC units, at the Department of Corrections, and in community agencies, regarding planning and evaluating care for patients with multiple general medical and psychiatric problems. They will participate in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of care and education programs and protocols used by the health care staff to meet the needs of individuals who exhibit health problems across the continuum from prevention to complex general medical and/or psychiatric conditions.

Special Notes:   Due to the nature of the position, all applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a security background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. 

Appointee will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by medical personnel approved by WRC within the first 30 days of hire.

Qualifications:   

This position requires:

  • License as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber by the State of Wisconsin, or ability to obtain a license within the next 6 months.  Licensure will be verified as part of the assessment process.  For more information, please see https://dsps.wi.gov/pages/Home.aspx

    Well qualified candidates will have:

  • Knowledge and ability to perform physical assessments of geriatric patients. 

  • Knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and treatment including the use of psychotropic medications.   

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
