Join our team! The Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) is currently seeking to fill a License/Permit Program Associate - LTE position.

The mission of the Department of Safety and Professional Services is to promote economic growth and stability while protecting the citizens of Wisconsin as designated by statute. DSPS and related professional boards protect the citizens of Wisconsin by ensuring the safe and competent practice of licensed professionals; performing inspections of commercial buildings, amusement rides, boilers, elevators, pressurized gas systems, and electrical systems; and performing plan reviews of commercial building, plumbing, fire suppression, elevators, boilers, and private onsite wastewater treatment systems.

This position are located at our new office location at 4822 Madison Yards Way, Madison, WI which offers convenient access to the Hilldale Shopping Center, University Avenue, UW Campus, and downtown.

Position Summary:   

This position renews, approves, denies or revokes licenses with an understanding of statutory language, rules, and policies for a diverse range of health and business professionals regulated by the Department.  This position provides information to the public regarding licensing services and procedures, and acts as the licensing renewal specialist for all business and health professions.

Special Notes:   

This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year).

Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.

Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.

Prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check.

DSPS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

Qualifications:   

A qualified applicant will have experience with:
• Experience assisting customers with questions via phone, e-mail, fax, in person, or comparable method.
• Experience and/or training utilizing computer programs for data entry (e.g. Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, Word, or comparable).
