Starting pay is between $56,160.00 and $60,320.00 annually ($27.00 - $29.00 per hour). Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary based on the applicable provisions in the State Compensation Plan. This position functions as the supervisor of the Fish Culture program staff at the St. Croix and Osceola Hatcheries under the general guidance of the Northwest Hatchery Group Leader. Supervisor responsibilities include the supervision and coordination of the fish rearing activities, budgets, and supervision of 4 to 6 staff including Limited Term Employees (LTEs).
Responsibilities include overseeing safety programs, assigned fish production, and collection and processing of brood fish. This position is responsible for coordinating facility and fish production related equipment maintenance and developing hatchery enhancement projects; developing, submitting and tracking budgets; making purchases in support of fish rearing; facilitating spawning activities; maintenance and safety in the work unit; scheduling and facilitating rearing and egg collection initiatives; and facilitating building and grounds maintenance.
Work hours will vary slightly based on demand. General work hours will be Monday through Friday 7:45a.m.- 4:30p.m. with weekend schedule flexibility.
A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Class Designation B, endorsement N and certified for air brakes is required within 6 months of employment.
A valid State of Wisconsin driver's license is required upon/throughout employment.
There is potential for the successful candidate to rent housing at one of the hatchery locations.
The successful candidate for this position will be required to pass a criminal background check prior to appointment.
