The Department of Natural Resources is hiring a Fish Operations Team Supervisor position in the Natural Resources Region Team Supervisor classification within the Division of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, Bureau of Fisheries Management.  The location of this position will be in either Fitchburg or Black River Falls depending on applicant preference and availability. 

In partnership with individuals and organizations, the DNR staff manage fish, wildlife, forests, parks, air, and water resources while promoting a healthy, sustainable environment and a full range of outdoor activities.

Position Summary:   

This position administers the District Field Operations and Habitat programs primarily for the South and West Districts, as well as the western half of the North District.  The Fish Operations Team Supervisor coordinates planning, development and maintenance of fisheries habitat projects.  This position also controls and is responsible for the assignment, user certification, operation, safe use and maintenance of heavy equipment and vehicles inventoried, assigned or leased by the fisheries management program in the South and West Districts.  Additional duties include: Supervision of all team employees; oversight of spawning operations and distribution of hatchery-produced fish; oversight of proactive public outreach efforts; providing personnel and equipment needed to assist other work units in meeting their work plan objectives; and, the design, construction, fabrication, repair, replacement or maintenance of other Fisheries program equipment.  As chief safety officer for the South and West Districts, the Fish Operations Team Supervisor serves as an integral member of the statewide Fisheries Management Program Safety Team and conducts periodic safety assessments of staff and equipment in use throughout the South and West Districts.  The position may also serve on the statewide Fisheries Management Habitat Team and other teams.

Required qualifications for the position include education and experience in:

-Applied Fisheries Biology and Management techniques. 

-Work planning and budget management.

-Leadership/ coaching experience with a team.

In addition to the required qualifications, Preferred qualifications for position include education and experience in:

-Direct supervision of employees.

-Stream habitat project development and implementation.

-Heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
