The Department of Natural Resources has an excellent opportunity to be a part of sustainable management and protection of Wisconsin's forestlands. The Division of Forestry is hiring multiple LTE Forestry Specialists stationed throughout the state!
Under the general guidance of the District Forestry leader and National Forest liaisons, this LTE Forestry Specialist position will work in a team and independently, planning and implementing professional level forestry activities. This position will assist with the inventory, planning and implementation of forest management practices on Good Neighbor Authority application on the CNNF National Forest lands. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing many aspects of timber sales establishment, sale administration, and forest reconnaissance work located primarily in Ashland, Bayfield, Forest, Florence, Langlade, Oconto, Price, Rusk, Sawyer and Taylor Counties with potential additional work in other CNNF Districts. The majority of the work is fieldwork with a compliment of office follow up reporting. This temporary position is anticipated to work 40 hours per week for approximately 6 months out of the year (1039 hours).
These are limited term (LTE) positions. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or have the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
