The Department of Natural Resources is hiring multiple Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions for the summer of 2019 at the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest! Located near Eagle, Wisconsin, the forest is made up of more than 22,000 acres of glacial hills, kettles, lakes, prairie restoration sites, pine woods and hardwood forests, and is a popular area for a wide variety of visitors.

Position Summary:   

With a variety of positions available, this is a great opportunity for those looking for summer work or to start their career in natural resources! These will start in the spring/early summer and work through late summer/fall; with some flexibility depending upon candidate's availability and the needs of the state property. Visitor Services Associates (6 Positions Available) are responsible for greeting park visitors, selling vehicle admission stickers, registering campers, fielding questions about the property and it's recreation opportunities, along with a variety of other administrative and financial duties. Laborers (4 Positions Available) are responsible for cleaning facility buildings, mowing grass and general maintenance within our campgrounds, picnic areas, beaches and trails. Find more information and apply here!

Facilities Repair Workers (4 Positions Available) perform a combination of general maintenance and repair work to various building types and equipment; including but not limited to park buildings, electrical, plumbing, power tools and vehicles. Find more information and apply here!

Facilities Repair Worker - Advanced will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance related tasks as it relates to the state forest. Responsibilities will include the inspection, maintenance and repair of buildings (interiors & exteriors), and plumbing & electrical systems within the campgrounds, day use areas and trails. Special Notes:   

These are limited term (LTE) positions. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or have the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.

Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check.  DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications:   

Required Qualifications for all positions:
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual
- Ability to work a modified schedule; nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and public

Age Requirements:
The State of Wisconsin can hire any individual that meets the age requirement to obtain a work permit; 14 years of age. 14 & 15 year olds who may be hired, would need a work permit before starting employment. Note - for those over 16 but under 18, a work permit is not required, but per the State’s fleet requirements they could not drive a state vehicle.
