This position will work primarily on the Willow Flowage Scenic Waters Area. The Willow Flowage Scenic Waters Area is a large island studded reservoir within the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest. The property includes 73 miles of shoreline, 106 islands and 7 boat landings. The DNR-managed portion of the property, including the flowage, encompasses more than 30,000 acres where hunting, fishing, paddling and hiking opportunities abound.

Position Summary:   Duties of this position will involve maintenance and upkeep of recreational infrastructure including campsites, boat landings, trails, parking areas, and other property facilities. This position will also conduct safety inspections and identify potential hazards. The Parks and Recreation Specialist will also be responsible for the maintenance and repair of various equipment including boats, mowers, ATVs/UTVs, and trailers. Special Notes:    This is a limited term (LTE) position. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or have the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin. 

Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. The DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications:   Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet requirements to drive a state vehicle
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Experience operating boats, ATVs, UTVs, chainsaws, and pulling trailers.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in light maintenance and landscaping.
- Experience with cleaning/janitorial work.
- Experience maintaining and repairing small engines.
