The Department of Natural Resources is hiring a Fisheries Technician stationed at our Brule Fish Hatchery!
This position functions as part of the Les Voigt Hatchery / Brule Rearing Station work unit in the Northern District. The Les Voigt/Brule river work unit produces trout and salmon for inland and great lakes stocking. Fish culture operations within the scope of this position are under the direct supervision of the Operations Supervisor for the work unit. The primary station for this position will be the Brule hatchery, but will assist at Les Voigt as needed. The Brule Hatchery is operated solely on river water and is therefore susceptible to fluctuating water temperatures and potential flooding and ice flow. This position will primarily be used to maintain flow and monitor ice conditions throughout the facility, and maintenance of fish and equipment. This position will be on call for rainfall and extreme cold weather events. This position may require a rotating work schedule including weekends and holidays.
This is a limited term (LTE) position. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or have the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. The DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience, training or education in Fisheries or a Natural Resources related field
