The Department of Natural Resources is hiring multiple Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions for the summer of 2019 at Peninsula State Park! Peninsula State Park is one of Wisconsin's most popular parks for recreation and camping! Peninsula offers 468 campsites, three group camps, a summer theater, an 18-hole golf course, sand beach, bike trails, a lighthouse and eight miles of Door County shoreline! Come work amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in Wisconsin and contribute to rewarding and meaningful work!
With a variety of positions available, this is a great opportunity for those looking for summer work or to start their career in natural resources! These will start in the spring/early summer and work through late summer/fall; with some flexibility depending upon candidate's availability and the needs of the state property. Visitor Services Associates (10 Positions Available) This position staffs the visitor contact station and greets park visitors. Duties consist of selling vehicle admission stickers, registration of campers, answer phones, disseminate park information, and other clerical duties. Find more information and apply here!
Park Facilities Repair Workers (11 Positions Available) These position assists full-time staff at Peninsula with grounds and facilities maintenance. Facilities Repair Workers maintain and operate equipment such as mowing equipment, chainsaws, and other maintenance tools as needed. These are limited term (LTE) positions. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or have the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Required Qualifications for all positions:
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual
- Ability to work a modified schedule; nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and public
The State of Wisconsin can hire any individual that meets the age requirement to obtain a work permit; 14 years of age. 14 & 15 year olds who may be hired, would need a work permit before starting employment. Note - for those over 16 but under 18, a work permit is not required, but per the State’s fleet requirements they could not drive a state vehicle.
