The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is currently recruiting for multiple Nurse Clinician 2 (Registered Nurse) positions to provide direct and indirect care to members of our Veterans Home at King. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term-care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support and professional medical services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is located on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton. Some of the positions being filled may have duties that temporarily focus on Medication Administration and Treatment until regular Nurse Clinician 2 positions become available.
Sign-On Bonus of $2000 for eligible employees who agree to remain in the position for one year. The first $1000 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and the second $1000 will be paid when the employee attains permanent status.

This professional nursing position is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care to a mostly geriatric and/or disabled population. The Nurse Clinician 2 provides direction to other staff in the provision and coordination of member care, and monitors care given by other health team members on a unit, floor, or in a building. All activities are performed in accordance with applicable industry standards of practice, facility policy/procedures, and facility and governmental rules and regulations.
Nurse Clinician 2 positions work multiple shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. Job duties require the ability to assist in mobility efforts, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight hour day to provide assessments, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment and wear protective clothing.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical and tuberculosis (TB) test.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.
Minimally-qualified applicants must be:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or Nurse Licensure Compact State.
Well-qualified applicants will also have:
- Experience working collaboratively (e.g., interdisciplinary healthcare teams, developing and implementing care plants, establishing positive relationships, etc.); and/or
- Experience using computers and applications (e.g., electronic technology, electronic charting systems, etc.); and/or
- Experience providing nursing care (e.g., assessing and documenting patient status, providing direct and indirect patient care, administering medication and treatments, investigating and solving problems, assisting and training other staff, directing activities based on patient needs, etc.); and/or
- Experience in a Relevant Setting (e.g., long-term care, geriatric, etc.)
