The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) currently has openings for a Limited Term Employment (LTE) Food Service Assistant 2 at our Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove.
The Veterans Home is a 24/7/365 long-term-care facility dedicated to providing services to Wisconsin veterans and their families. Our facility is located a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha and other key locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Come join our team!

These positions are responsible for interpreting diet orders to serve standard and modified meals on tray lines in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. In addition, these positions assist with quantity food production, perform breakfast or grill cooking, transport food carts between kitchen and servery areas, and participates in catered functions. These positions work in both assisted living and skilled nursing facility.

The position is part-time, with scheduled hours every other weekend sometime between the hours of 6:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. The position may fill in for other shifts as needed.
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) test.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience in:
- Production assembly (e.g., set up a tray line; inspect for accuracy; properly store items; follow procedures, etc.)
Well-qualified applicants will have in experience in:
- Food service (e.g., portion and serve food; handle food safely; maintain sanitary work areas and equipment; perform food service tasks; using basic equipment/appliances, etc.)
- Sanitation standards (e.g., wash and sanitize utensils, plates, trays, pots and pans; load, unload and store clean dishes, etc.)
