The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs currently has a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position available for a Security Officer 3 in our Emergency Services Department.

Position Summary:   If you enjoy a variety of fast paced duties that require great communication skills and multi-tasking consider supporting our officers in our Emergency Services Department.

Special Notes:   

Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to an offer of employment.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.

Eligible for or currently hold a WI Drivers License and be able to meet minimum driving standards.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical and tuberculosis (TB) test.

Per Wisconsin Statute 230.26, Wisconsin residency is required for LTE appointments.


Minimally-qualified applicants will have:

  • Good communication skills used for composing email announcements & reports
  • Ability to patrol and inspect buildings for fire and security hazards
  • Knowledge of customer service practices

  • Well-qualified applicants will have:

  • Background in EMS, Fire Service, or law enforcement
  • Experience in operating internal and external communications systems
  • Knowledge of fire suppression equipment
