If so, then, consider applying for this Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist (Limited Term Employment) position. This is a chance to put your skills in action to support the honorable mission of helping people with disabilities obtain, maintain, and improve employment.

The Department of Workforce Development's (DWD) Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) maintains 11 Workforce Development Areas (WDAs) across the state where teams of DVR staff work together to assist Wisconsin residents with their job search efforts. This position is headquartered out of either our Green Bay or Sheboygan office, depending on business needs and the location of the selected candidate.

Position Summary:   

This exciting new position functions in a team environment within its headquartered office and WDA 5 and is responsible for the coordination of vocational rehabilitation services for DVR consumers; collaboration with and education of DVR stakeholders; program and/or project coordination; and other specialization of tasks related to program development and implementation.

The position also provides oversight and monitoring of programs funded and administered by DVR to ensure compliance, efficiency and effective services to people with disabilities as required by federal and state law and contract requirements.

Special Notes:   

Frequent travel within the WDA and occasional statewide travel is required.

The specific schedule and duration will be determined based on agency needs and employee availability. No more than 1039 hours may be worked in one year.

Minimally qualified candidates will have experience performing tasks related to the following:

  • Providing case management services, including coordinating services with multiple entities.
  • Presenting information (re: programming/procedures, answering routine questions, etc.) to stakeholders (e.g., customers, consumers, businesses, service providers, etc.).
  • Performing administrative tasks (e.g., documenting information; completing forms/reports; inputting, tracking, and retrieving data; create purchase orders, route invoices, etc.), including the use of office software (e.g., Microsoft Office or similar).
  • Organizing and prioritizing tasks to successfully manage a workload.
  • Communicating and relating interpersonally with others to maintain effective working relationships.

Well-Qualified candidates will also have experience performing tasks related to the following:

  • Managing projects or portions of projects (i.e., project management that includes tasks such as gathering business requirements, creating timelines, assigning tasks, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, etc.).
  • Providing technical assistance and/or training others on complex topics such as guidelines, regulations, laws, etc.
  • Administering financial procedures (e.g., processing payments, researching cost comparisons, resolving payment disputes, etc.).
  • Working with persons with disabilities and/or related education.
  • Resolving problems.
