Salary:
Pay is between $42.84 - $48.15/hour ($89,107 - $100,152 annually). Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary based on the applicable provisions in the State Compensation Plan. Current State employees applying as a transfer applicant will require DPM approval for pay on transfer increases. Please contact the HR Specialist for more information. This position is in Pay Schedule / Range 81-01. A two year Career Executive trial period may be required.

The Department of Natural Resources is hiring a Field Operation Director for the Bureau of Remediation & Redevelopment in the Natural Resources Manager classification within our Environmental Management Division.  This position may be based in Eau Claire, Fitchburg, Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, Rhinelander, or Spooner.

Position Summary:   This position assists the Program/Bureau Director as a leader and strategist in developing and ensuring consistent implementation of a comprehensive statewide remediation and redevelopment program. This includes assuring that state and federal remediation and redevelopment laws are met. This position oversees the implementation of all policy, planning, personnel and budget activities associated with the RR program’s field activities. This position monitors statewide program metrics relating to field activities and ensures that those metrics are being achieved or corrective measures are taken to address shortcomings. In the absence of the Program/Bureau Director, this position represents the Department in external contacts with the Governor’s Office, the legislature, local government leaders, federal agencies such as the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), regional and national remediation and redevelopment-related organizations, and a wide variety of public groups, private businesses, and associations. This position directly supervises the RR program’s field supervisors statewide.

Qualifications:   Required qualifications include:
- Experience in a brownfields, remediation, or redevelopment related field
- Supervisory experience

In addition to the required qualifications, preferred qualifications include:
- Degree related to natural resources management, environmental science, or engineering
- Experience in a regulatory setting
- Experience in process improvement/streamlining and performance metrics
- Experience managing relationships with external stakeholders and/or partnerships
- Experience  implementing processes or programs to develop consistency across multiple groups of personnel
