The starting pay is between $37,356 and $61,609 per year, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Pay upon appointment for current or former State employees may vary and will be in accordance with language in the Compensation Plan, Statutes, and Administrative Code. This position is included in pay schedule and range 81-04. A twelve month probationary period may be required.

The Bureau of Correctional Enterprises, within the Division of Adult Institutions, provides opportunities for inmates to work, learn and earn during the confinement portion of a prison sentence. Work provides for the constructive use of inmates’ time inside an institution, reducing opportunities for rule violations. Learning general work skills applicable to any job and technical skills applicable to specific jobs enables inmates to be stronger job applicants and to become valuable employees when they return to the community. Earning an hourly wage enables inmates to pay court ordered obligations like restitution to victims of their crimes and child support to their dependent families. This combination of working, learning and earning contributes to inmates’ successful community reentry.
The Upholstery Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising, planning, operating, and monitoring the upholstery furniture shop in Oakhill Correctional Institution. This position ensures productivity is managed at an optimal level while enforcing a profitable production facility and maintaining excellent quality assurance standards are being met at all times. This position also includes working with office administration, inside and outside sales staff, vendors, and customers; providing training and development to staff and inmate workers; developing and implementing new products; managing inventories; managing production costs; overseeing shop health and safety; and utilizing all Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems in the upholstery manufacturing facility.
