The starting pay is $12.00 per hour. We also compensate with a night differential $0.45 per hour for all night hours worked (i.e., work hours between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.) and a weekend differential of $0.60 per hour for all weekend work hours (i.e., work hours on Saturday and Sunday).

The Northern Wisconsin Center (NWC) is looking to fill a Limited Term Employment (LTE) Custodian position in Chippewa Falls. The amount of working hours will vary and could equate to approximately 40 hours per week. The shift is primarily 7:00am-3:30pm, however the individual may be required to work the PM or weekend shift as needed.

NWC is a short-term assessment and treatment facility for individuals who have an intellectual disability as well as a mental illness and aggressive or challenging behaviors. The programming is designed to prepare people to live successfully in a community setting. NWC is one of three centers for individuals with intellectual disabilities managed by the
Division of Care and Treatment Services.

LTE positions are temporary and the individual is limited to working 1,039 hours in a 12 month period. Benefits are not available. For more information, please click here:

Position Summary:   This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, safe and sanitary environment in the building(s) or work areas. Duties include cleaning and maintaining a variety of floor surfaces; cleaning, sanitizing bathrooms; washing walls, interior and exterior windows/doors; disposing of trash and recyclable materials and restocking supplies. This position is also responsible for assisting in moving freight/furniture and outside maintenance including, but not limited to, mowing grass, shoveling snow, and dispensing salt/sand.

Special Notes:   

  • Due to the nature of these positions, all applicants will be required to allow the DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.

  • All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by NWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
  • Qualifications:   This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting and carrying 40-65lbs, working on a ladder, bending, stooping, reach, and stretching.
