The Department of Natural Resources is hiring a Youth Conservation Congress Coordinator LTE!
This position is anticipated to work approximately 20 hours per week and may be stationed at any available DNR Service Center in the state. The location will be determined by preference of the successful candidate and office space availability.

The goal of the Youth Conservation Congress (YCC) is to effectively engage, educate, and involve youth in the management and protection of our natural resources and foster a conservation ethic through participation in the program. The YCC will teach participants about natural resource management and careers through a variety of service-learning opportunities throughout the year, the process by which Wisconsinís natural resource policy is determined, and the role and history of the Wisconsin Conservation Congress (WCC). Through the YCC we hope to recruit and train future conservation leaders who can effectively communicate, inspire, and recruit their peers into conservation programs. The YCC will connect participants with opportunities to learn about conservation and future professional opportunities.
This position will work closely with the WCC Liaison and the R3 Team to coordinate and manage aspects of the statewide Youth Conservation Congress program. This position will be responsible for such duties as, but not limited to overseeing the implementation and expansion of the Youth Conservation Congress program statewide; work with the Friends of the WCC and WCC to implement the YCC strategic plan; collaborate with existing programs to bolster and enhance the YCC program; encourage engagement and interaction between the YCC and the WCC; and communicate with and engage youth and their families in natural resource management and the WCC process.
This is a limited term (LTE) position. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Required Qualifications: - Experience working and communicating effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds. - Skilled in team building and leadership necessary to bring together diverse interests to accomplish common objectives. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) for developing and maintaining accurate records and files.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience conveying and transferring information to professionals, policy-makers, volunteers and the public. - Experience in giving educational presentations and public speaking. - Experience in project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
