The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK), is currently recruiting for multiple Custodian positions, to clean and sanitize assigned building areas on the WVHK campus. WVHK is a skilled nursing, long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional medical services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. The facility is located on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton. The list of qualified applicants created from this recruitment may be used to fill Custodian vacancies which occur in the next six months.

The Custodian performs manual semi-skilled work associated directly with the performance of a variety of custodial tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash, etc. Work is performed under the guidance of a Custodian Lead or under the supervision of a Custodial Services Supervisor.
These Custodian positions work a standard schedule of Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., plus rotating weekends and holidays.

This position requires the ability to work in the conditions of the job (e.g., climbing, reaching, bending; performing sustained physical activity; occasionally exerting an excess of 100 pounds of force; using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); working with loud, shaking and/or vibrating equipment; working on ladders and/or scaffolding, etc.).
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct criminal background checks prior to an offer of hire.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical and tuberculosis test.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.
Minimally-qualified applicants will have experience:
- Cleaning; and
- Using safety practices/controls; and
- Following instructions/standard operating procedures; and
- Working as a member of a team; and
- With interpersonal communication
Well-qualified applicants will also have experience operating and maintaining manual and motorized equipment.
