STATE PATROL TROOPER 1

INTRODUCTION

This is the online assessment for the Wisconsin State Patrol 65th Recruit Class. In order to receive consideration for the 65th Recruit Class, you must save and finalize your online application.  

The online application will consist of attaching your resume, responding to the minimum requirements, completing the background check information and scheduling the physical readiness testing.

·         MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Questions 1-15 identify the hiring standards for employment. If you do not meet or acknowledge all of the minimum requirements, you will not be allowed to continue in the hiring process.

·         BACKGROUND CHECK INFORMATION Questions 16-19 provide the Wisconsin State Patrol with the necessary information to obtain your Driver Record and Criminal History check.

·         SCHEDULING THE PHYSICAL READINESS TESTING Applicants who meet and/or acknowledge all of the minimum requirements must schedule their Physical Readiness Testing before finalizing their application.  To do so, applicants will need to follow the provided links that correspond with the location, date and time they wish to complete the Physical Readiness Testing. 

 

SAVING YOUR RESPONSES: Wisc.Jobs will time out after 20 minutes of inactivity. You must click “Save and Continue” on each screen within 20 minutes or you responses will be lost. When you are finished with the assessment, click “Save and Finalize” and then “Finalize”.

UPDATING YOUR RESPONSES: You may update your responses until the deadline date. Please note, you must click “Finalize” each time you enter the assessment, regardless of whether or not you changed your responses.

COMPLETING YOUR APPLICATION: After you have successfully finalized your application, you will receive an email from wisc.jobs confirming your application has been completed.

NEXT STEPS: The Physical Readiness Testing will take place April 6-14, 2019. Applicants who successfully finalize their online application should plan to complete the testing at the location, date and time they have selected.

13. The Division of State Patrol requires that all applicants meet the following pre-employment vision standards:
  • Minimum uncorrected vision of 20/100 in each eye; tested by both accommodation and contrast sensitivity.
  • Vision must be correctable to 20/20. Weak eye vision can be 20/30 with binocular vision of 20/20.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors
  • Ability to pass 40% stereopsis (depth perception) or better
  • An applicant is disqualified if there is: loss of either eye, chronic inflammation of the lids, or permanent abnormalities of the eye(s)

14. The Division of State Patrol requires that all applicants meet the following pre-employment hearing standard: Normal hearing, defined as pure tone air conduction average threshold evidencing no more than 20 decibel hearing loss for the test frequencies of 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 hertz in each ear.

15. Successful applicants will begin their employment as a "Cadet" and undergo 26 rigorous weeks of comprehensive law enforcement training at the State Patrol Academy in Fort McCoy (regardless of previous law enforcement experience).

The exact location of vacancies filled by the 65th Recruit Class will not be known during the recruitment process. Upon satisfactory completion of the 26 weeks of training, Cadets will be sworn in as a State Patrol Trooper or Inspector and assigned to one of five regions around the State of Wisconsin. Geographical selection/ placement and classification shall be determined by academy class ranking, with the Cadet having the highest class rank selecting the first vacancy of their choice.

Scheduling your Physical Readiness Test

All applicants who successfully finalize their application will move forward to the Physical Readiness Testing. The Physical Readiness Testing will be administered at the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy (Fort McCoy, Wisconsin) and a location to be determine in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from April 7-15, 2018.

It will take approximately 3-4 hours to complete the Physical Readiness Testing. Applicants must be successful in all areas of the testing to pass. You will be notified on-site whether you passed or failed.

Please review the requirements and put in the work necessary to either maintain or improve your fitness level to meet or exceed the minimum physical requirements before the testing dates.
