Salary:
Pay for this position is $18.06 per hour. A $1.20 add-on will be added for all hours worked after initial training. A $.45 night differential and $.60 weekend differential are available. This is an LTE appointment and is limited to 1039 hours in a year.

Join Central Wisconsin Center as a limited term employment CNA!

Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) is recruiting for multiple CNA positions. Central CWC provides short-term and residential services to assist people living with intellectual disabilities in acquiring the personal skills needed to reach their highest potential. CWC is located at 317 Knutson Drive on the North side of Madison. CWC also has a 24/7 fitness center, free parking, and is on the bus route. Former employees who left in good standing are encouraged to apply.

These are flexible part-time positions with the ability to pick up additional hours. Must be able to work minimum amount of hours agreed upon at hire. No required additional overtime. Employees will have the ability to select available needed days and shifts. Working hours may include a combination of rotating AM, PM, and NOC shifts. Availability on weekends and a commitment to work at least 16 hours per week is preferred. Ability to work on short notice is a plus.

  • LTE positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to a civil service classified position, and do not lead to permanent status.

  • Wisconsin residency is required for LTE positions.

  • No more than 1039 hours may be worked in one year.

Position Summary:   
  • Provide care to individuals with intellectual disabilities

  • Provide formal and informal active treatment to residents

  • Observe and report behavioral, mental, and physical changes in residents

  • Record and summarize information in daily logs, clinical records, etc.

  • Work cooperatively with others to promote a positive living environment

Special Notes:   

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow the DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to: lifting up to 55 lbs, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and balancing. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

All appointees will be required to commit to two weeks of full-time training (M-F 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.). The training period may be negotiable for former CWC employees or candidates with experience with the severely developmentally disabled.

Qualifications:   

Minimum requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon appointment.

  • Must have and maintain a valid Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

  • Must be willing and available to attend the required training full-time, Monday-Friday during the first 2 weeks of employment.

  • Must be willing and available to work nights, weekends, and holidays to maintain facility staffing requirements.

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret charts/diagrams and policies/procedures.

In addition to the minimum requirements, well-qualified applicants will have:

  • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team and interact with others.

  • Conflict resolution skills.

  • An ability to multi-task and prioritize.

  • Flexibility and availability to work varying days, shifts and willingness to work 24-40 hours per week.
