The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS),Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI) is recruiting for both a full time and part time Cook. WMHI will hold a recruitment event on Wednesday, March 10th and Thursday, March 11th.

WMHI is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults. The facility has a beautiful campus located on Lake Winnebago with adjacent walking paths by the lake for employees to use during break periods. The Cook 2 produces and distributes quantity foods for both general and modified diets for approximately 700 people at WMHI, Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC), and Wisconsin Women's Treatment Facility located within Wisconsin Resource Center (WWRC). As member of Production team, the Cook maintains sanitation, safety, and security standards; mentors other employees on team; and develops, evaluates new products and makes recommendations.
The full time position works 4:00 am to 12:30 pm on a rotating schedule that includes six days on, followed by two days off. Every fifth and sixth week will include a 3 day weekend. Will be required to work holidays and overtime as needed.
The part time position works 48 hours per pay period. Incumbent will work daytime hours between 4:00 am to 6:30 pm on a rotating schedule that includes six days on, followed by two days off. Every fifth and sixth week will include a 3 day weekend. Will be required to work holidays and overtime as needed.
These positions are eligible for an additional $0.45 for hours worked between 6 pm to 6 am, and a weekend differential of $0.60 for hours worked between midnight Friday to midnight Sunday.
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to complete a pre-employment health assessment including a TB screen prior to their start date.
This position requires the following:
Experience working with food preparation and general cooking
Experience maintaining food safety and sanitation standards
Ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team
In addition, well-qualified candidates will have:
Experience working with large quantity or institutional food service including working with specialized diets and menus
