Starting pay is $12.19 per hour and is in pay schedule and range 03-09. Additional compensation earned for weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime, as well as an excellent benefits package. For current and eligible former State employees, compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK), is currently recruiting for four Food Service Assistant 2 positions. WVHK is a long-term-care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support and professional medical services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. The WVHK is located on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O' Lakes in-between Stevens Point and Appleton off of Highway 10.

The Food Service Assistant 2 (FSA 2) performs the duties associated with a large and complex food service program. Duties include: portioning product, vegetable cleaning and preparation, tray line posts, bagging flatware, warewashing, making toast, cleaning and sanitation, dining rooms, pots and pans, delivery and pick-up, pouring coffee, slicing and buttering bread, assembling nourishments and snacks, and assisting and training new staff. May include working in dining rooms, nourishment or snack program.
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience in:
Production Assembly (e.g. set up a line; inspect for accuracy; properly store items, follow procedures; sort; assemble; operate equipment and machinery)
The ability to interpret and follow posted information (use appropriate procedures; interpret, comprehend and act upon written information)
The ability to work in conditions of position (perform work that is medium to heavy in nature, move carts weighing an average of 500 pounds up to 100 feet, move equipment and supplies up to 100 pounds with assistance and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds).
Well-qualified applicants will have experience in:
Food Service (e.g. portion and serve food; handle food safely; maintain sanitary work areas and equipment; perform food service tasks; knowledge of basic equipment/appliances)
Communicating with Co-Workers and Supervisors in a Team Environment (e.g. assist and train new staff, reporting to supervisor, and assist and communicate with co-workers)
Safety Controls (followed safety rules (proper lifting, careful use of equipment, cautious handling of potentially hazardous substances, etc.), knowledge of safe lifting and moving techniques)
Working in a long-term care facility or providing services to elderly or disabled persons (e.g. long term; geriatrics, etc.)
