The State of Wisconsin salutes veterans and is grateful for their service to our country. As an employer, the State of Wisconsin administers programs designed to increase veterans' employment in civil service. Certain veterans and spouses of veterans may qualify for increased opportunities and consideration in employment. As part of the application process, all applicants are asked about veteran status. If qualified under one of the categories below, that status will be verified at some point prior to hire.
Do you qualify as any of the following?
| Veteran To apply as a veteran, a person must fulfill one of the following: - Served on active duty in the U.S. armed forces for at least 180 days, not including training
- Discharged from the U.S. armed forces because of a disability incurred during active duty or because of a disability that is later adjudicated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to have been incurred during active duty
- Honorably discharged from the U.S. armed forces
- Eligible to receive federal veterans benefits

Spouse of a Veteran
To apply as a spouse of a veteran; a person must be one of the following: - Spouse of a 70%+ disabled veteran
- Unremarried spouse of a veteran killed in action
- Unremarried spouse of a veteran who died of a service-connected disability
