​The State of Wisconsin salutes veterans and is grateful for their service to our country. As an employer, the State of Wisconsin has a coordinated effort across state government to administer programs designed to increase veterans' employment in civil service. ​​


Veterans Non-Competitive Apppointment

Veterans with a 30% or greater service-connected disability, may be eligible to participate in this program. ​I​​f you are interested in being considered for a specific job that is posted on Wisc.Jobs, you can apply using one of the methods below. Current permanent State employees are not eligible for non-competitive appointment. 

Method #1

  • Apply to the VNCA job posting (Job ​ID 3375) within the last 12 months.
  • After you’ve received notification of your eligibility, send an email to the HR Staff listed in the job posting for a specific position you're interested in and mention the items below:

    • You’ve applied to Job ID 3375; 
    • Your eligibility has been verified; and 
    • You are interested in being considered for the position as a VNCA applicant.
  • ​After receipt of your email, HR staff will provide you with further instructions.

Method #2

  • Apply to the specific job you’re interested in by following the application instructions in the How to Apply section of the job posting. 
  • Additionally, you must complete the following steps:
    • ​At​​​tach your resume, DD-214, and documentation of your service-connected disability rating (dated within the last 12 months) to your online application. 
    • Send an email indicating your interest in being considered for the VNCA program to the HR staff listed in the job posting. If anything additional is needed, you will be contacted. 
  • ​​​​Important note: If HR staff are not notified of your interest in being considered for the VNCA program, you would be considered as a regular applicant for the position.
